Spatial Modeling of Vegetation Cover for Soil Erosion Control Based on Arc GIS and the RUSLE Models

چکیده

Deforestation in the Serayu watershed, Central Java province, Indonesia for agriculture and other uses leaves only 0.73% of vegetation. It has triggered a number problems such as soil loss (erosion), landslides, floods sedimentation downstream. Environmental damage control needs to be applied through appropriate conservation programs. This study aims understand distribution erosion effectiveness by using vegetation cover. Soil modeling its correlation cover was performed an Arc GIS based model Revised Universal Loss Equation (RUSLE) five scenarios landscape 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, 30% total area site. Five parameters namely rain erosivity (R), erodibility (K), slope-length (LS) crop management (C) practices (P) factor were used calculate erosion. The results indicated 82.25 tons/ha/year reduction due enhancement from actual condition condition. increase 5% (forest) detracted rate 10,20 tons /ha/year. Very high hazard levels found northern, east, west watershed areasKeywords: erosion, RUSLE model, GIS, Vegetation

Modeling Soil Erosion Using Rusle and Gis Tools

Soil erosion involves detachment and transport of soil particles from top soil layers, degrading soil quality and reducing the productivity of affected lands. Soil eroded from the upland catchment causes depletion of fertile agricultural land and the resulting sediment deposited at the river networks creates river morphological change and reservoir sedimentation problems. However, land managers...

Modeling the impacts of no-till practice on soil erosion and sediment yield with RUSLE, SEDD, and ArcView GIS

The revised universal soil loss equation (RUSLE), the sediment delivery distributed (SEDD) model, and ArcView GIS were used to estimate the impacts of no-till practice on soil erosion and sediment yield in Pataha Creek Watershed, a typical dryland agricultural watershed in southeastern Washington. The results showed that the average cell soil loss decreased from 11.09 to 3.10 t/ha yr for the wh...

Predicting Soil Erosion With RUSLE in Mediterranean

Accurate assessment of soil loss is essential for sustainable agricultural production, 11 management and conservation planning, especially in productive rain-fed agro-ecosystems 12 and protected areas. The European Union considers soil as a non-renewable resource and 13 identifies that soil degradation has strong impacts on soil and water resources. In this work the 14 Revised Universal Soil Lo...

Gis-based Approach for Change and Prediction of Soil Erosion

The paper has the goal to evaluate if the Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE)applied using thematic paper maps and a DEM is sufficient to generate a model to map and predict the influences on the environment caused by soil erosion on Loess Plateau. Factors of USLE R, K, S, L, P as well as C were adapted to the test area, the Nihe Gou catchment in Chunhua County in Shaanxi. Afterwards the parame...
